Travel with kids! My survival list

Did I mention I’m a list person, planner, doing the most-er?? When we travel/road-trip, I pack strategically, and sometimes too much, but everything almost always get used.

Here’s my go-to list and tips attached for road-tripping with 2 toddlers! It’s broken down by equipment, notes on the side, car essentials, as well as snack options Links attached for my favorite must haves to keep routines intact. Mama’s not losing sleep because the kids don’t get their sleep!! No ma’am!

Baby Bottles (2) and travel brush + cleaner

Diapers + night time and 2 packs of wipes

I Only pack enough for the car ride back and forth and 1 extra day: I usually purchase regular diapers/wipes at our destination to lessen packing space.

Outfits, shoes, and Extra clothes for both

Pack for 2 extra days than we’re traveling

Jammies

Lovey’s and blankets!

Can never leave home without them

Both pack n plays and sheets+ crib sheet

Unless cribs are available at destination. Hotels usually have them, air bnb’s can usually rent. Linked rental company below as well.

Slumber pod

Holy grail of sleep!! Fits over pack n plays, cribs, super lightweight and easy to set up!

Black out curtains

As important as food and water to me! I also keep pushpins, electrical tape and 3M Velcro tape for hanging. Never know what I’ll run into

Toys for both: including a few bath toys and 2 bedtime books

Camera and monitor

Sound machines and plugs

Mario food/bed for car

Whenever our pup travel with us- he has his own duffel bag.

Travel chairs

Quick “high chairs”- linked

First aid items; Tylenol, motrin, dispensers, diaper rash cream, bandaids etc.

Diaper bag with essentials and extra snacks

Fully loaded iPad

Usually we don’t need this until the last hour of the trip- if that.

This may seem over the top, but when I say I keep these kids feeling like they’re home during travel- I really mean it.

I pack 1 suitcase with both kids’ things, 1 separate duffel bag for the miscellaneous equipment needed, snack bag in the front seat and we roll out! We have 3 rows in our SUV so in the back row, one seat is usually left open if Clayton or I need to crawl in the back at some point for added entertainment.

At all times I also have a backup essentials kit in the car with the following:

Diapers including nighttime ones

2 packs of wipes

Diaper cream

Shirt, socks

Applesauce

Bottled water

Crayons

Toys

Car Snack Options

Pretzels

Goldfish

Graham Crackers

Applesauce

String cheese

Animal crackers

Fruit snacks

Fig newtons

Veggie sticks

Carrots sticks

Raisins

Cut fruit: strawberries, blueberries, oranges

Waffles: toast them and throw them in a baggie on the way out

Yogurt: freeze it on the way out for a good ol treat
