February 18th- It’s been 4 years to the day since I’ve embarked on a girls trip with my international trio! And mama was excited!
Each year, myself and 2 of my closest girlfriends venture to a new destination. I missed out on Morocco in 2021, but made another international flight…this one was to my home instead, to lay my dad to rest. Not how I thought i was going to be spending my October.
Fast forward to today, I’m sitting on a plane giddy about the adventure that awaits us in St. Croix. I love traveling with these girls. We are the perfect balance! There’s Mich- the foodie and relaxer, but all things activities and exercise- oxymoron I know. Carla, the accountant, itinerary master, researcher and also foodie. And then there’s me, the foodie, driver, culture enthusiast, down for all adventure they want to come up with. We all have our departments and it makes for an amazing trip, full of laughter.
We’ve visited over “10?” countries together, but collectively, well over 50 and counting! My husband loves how we travel- because we do it budget consciously, Airbnb, or splitting a room, spending most of our funds on food and adventure vs high end accommodations. High contrast to his 5 star excursions with his group of friends. Haha. We choose our destination, usually one of taking turns on a country we’ve never been to but excited to check out. St. Croix is close, yet far enough and warm enough for February.
Leaving for a girls trip also meant Clayton bringing in reinforcements on the home front- Gram-C (his mom), GiGi, (grandma), and Aunt Gem Gem (his aunt)! A holiday weekend with 2 high energy kiddos means lots of time with the family to lift the weight even the slightest.
Needless to say, I’ll follow up with another post on all our shenanigans over this weekend! Must see places in St. Croix, and the folks responsible for a great time on the island. Looking forward to a fun-filled new adventure with my girls. And some well deserved mama decompression time.
