Let’s Talk Kids & Schedules

Do you and your partner stick to a schedule? My husband thought I was nuts when our little guy was born. I was very militant about Kingston’s schedule! Kids thrive on routine, at least that’s what every article, blog, or sleep training class told me. So I had a scheduled for everything regarding our son. Wake windows, nap times, breakfast, snacks, dinner, bath, and bedtimes… and ya know what? This kid is like clockwork. He also sleeps for 13-14 hours a night straight; so does his sister who was sleeping through the night by the time she was 9 weeks!

For the new parents to be- I highly swear by Taking Cara babies (IG linked below) newborn class mixed with Babywise schedules. They worked like a charm! There is a small cost associated for TCB’s newborn class, but it’s very worth it. Whatever works for your family and your schedule is always what’s best! I just happened to research these classes like crazy to be able to help our family function. We were going to have enough wrenches thrown in the mix I wanted to alleviate any challenges that I could help ahead of time.

But after said time, I definitely broke off from some of the schedule. Why? because I needed flexibility in our day to day. The routines for the most part are the same but regarding sleep specifically, I don’t think twice about keeping them up past bedtime or nap time. If it means we get to spend quality time with family or friends we don’t see often, then we’re doing it. Especially with COVID, any time is pretty precious these days.
